Pima County Pedestrian Safety Study

Unincorporated Pima County experienced 18 pedestrian fatalities in a 5-year period. As a result, pedestrian safety is an area of emphasis for the region.

The County hired Psomas to develop a countywide multi-level methodology to screen, prioritize and review pedestrian safety projects. This includes screening the entire roadway network for critical safety locations; developing a point system for areas of concern using factors such as vulnerable users, number of lanes, travel speeds and pedestrian routes; and reviewing the top ranked projects to verify findings and propose solutions.
