Arcadia and Timrod Bicycle Boulevards
Enhancing Bike and Pedestrian Safety
Bicycle boulevards are residential streets designed to prioritize bicycling and enhance conditions for pedestrians by providing measures to help them safely cross major streets.
The Arcadia Avenue and Timrod Street Bicycle Boulevards project is converting two intersecting residential corridors into bicycle boulevards. Arcadia provides a 2.8-mile north-south bicycling corridor, while Timrod creates a 2.4-miles east-west corridor. Psomas prepared design plans for the project, which included new bicycle and pedestrian hybrid beacons, residential traffic calming measures, bicycle wayfinding signage, pavement markings, and shared-use path connections.
