Sunnyvale Primary Treatment Facility
Renovating One of the Oldest Treatment Plants on the West Coast
Built in 1956, Sunnyvale’s Water Pollution Control Plant needed renovation. The first step was building a Primary Treatment Facility that required extensive site and sequencing preparation to maintain treatment during construction, bring the new system online, and then demolish outdated facilities.
Psomas provided pre-construction services, constructability reviews, and construction management and inspection services during the construction phase. The facility produces discharge clean enough for the San Francisco Bay and will yield more than 2,500 dry tons of nutrient-rich biosolids annually to be used for agriculture.
