Los Angeles Federal Courthouse
LEED® Platinum for $350 million Courthouse
The new $350 million, 10-story courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles replaces a stately but outdated courthouse that had been in use since 1940. It is designed to look like a floating cube set atop a stone podium with a pleated facade made of tempered glass.
The new 633,000 SF courthouse, with 24 courtrooms, utilized a design-build delivery and achieved a rating of LEED Platinum from the U.S. Green Building Council. The project provided stormwater harvesting capacity for 110,000 gallons of stormwater which is used for drip irrigation for the facility.
