I-10/Ina Road Interchange Design

Increasing Roadway Capacity

Interstate 10 traverses the northwestern and eastern portions of Pima County and is part of the CANAMEX Corridor. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration, identified the need to reconstruct portions of I-10 to increase roadway capacity and improve operational efficiency. The Regional Transportation Authority also identified the need to improve the safety of the crossroads through the elimination of at-grade crossings with the Union Pacific Railroad’s mainline tracks.

Psomas designed improvements for the interchange and widening of I-10 to accommodate a future 10-lane roadway section, new auxiliary lanes, and entrance and exit ramps.
