Bus Rapid Transit on Wilshire Boulevard
Improving the Most Heavily Used Transit Corridor in LA County
As the most heavily used transit corridor in Los Angeles County, Wilshire Boulevard is an important strategic Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor. The goals of this $20 million project are to improve travel times and service reliability, increase ridership, and encourage a shift from automobile use to public transit.
Psomas provided predesign, design, and construction support services for this 3.5-mile project. Primary improvements consisted of reconstructing and resurfacing the curb lanes and repair and resurfacing of the middle lanes. Wilshire was widened in both travel directions to provide the peak-hour bus lanes.
