I was inspired to pursue a career in civil engineering after driving over the Vincent St. Thomas Bridge at the LA Harbor. I wanted to pursue a career that would give me the opportunity to build infrastructure like that, projects that would have a lasting impact on the community and people’s lives. So I went to Alabama A & M University and got my Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
I’ve been with Psomas over six years now. I work throughout Los Angeles and Orange County on transportation projects like complete streets, active transportation programs, roadway design, and bridge widenings.
I think my favorite projects are complete streets, which encourage use by pedestrians, bike riders and drivers alike so everyone can get around their community. I love projects that serve the public, making sure its safe for someone to cross the street or drive their car.
The culture here at Psomas really encourages a family environment. We have a great team here in LA—my co-workers are my friends, my “work family.” We do a lot of outside activities together like running marathons or going bowling.
When I’m not at work you’ll find me running marathons. My wife and I also love to travel. We just went to Amsterdam, Paris and London. Next up, Cairo!
