I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvement Project

The goal of the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements project was to add a 10-mile long vehicle lane to the I-405. To accommodate the highway’s construction, the ExxonMobil M-70 pipeline needed to be relocated. This was completed in three phases: the Sunset Bridge Relocation and Main Segment Phases 1 and 2.

Psomas’ scope included developing provisional as-built alignment geometries and drawings to facilitate line marking during construction and to provide data to the design-build contractor for final utility designs. The final as-built submittal included plan and profile alignment sheets, revisions to the company’s existing mapping, weld plots, and a markup showing updates to the company’s pipe data report. Psomas’ field crew performed construction survey activities primarily during night lane closures. These activities included staking, as-built surveying and line marking work.
