Providing Safer Working Conditions for U.S. Border Patrol
Psomas provided civil engineering services for this design-build project involving an 18-foot high pedestrian border fence along the U.S. and Mexican borders. The project is located east of the city of Tecate, CA.
This project fills in a gap in the existing fence and over two steep hills (i.e., Cetis’ Hill), whose grades are in excess of over 30%. The construction of the fence required the design of a construction access over the steep terrain and provisions for the handling of drainage. Construction access points were vital to construction activities, as well as well-planned vertical designs to minimize the excessive handling of earthwork.
Psomas also designed the panel layout with the changing grades.
