North Marin Water District
Expanding Recycled Water Infrastructure
The Water District’s Recycled/Reclaimed Water Expansion Program consisted of renovations to existing facilities and the installation of new infrastructure to transport, store, and distribute recycled water.
Psomas provided construction management services for projects that provided recycled water to schools, golf courses, residential, and municipal green belt areas. Over eight miles of pipeline was installed using various methods. Trenchless construction included bore-and-jack headings beneath Highway 101 and the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART). In order to cross multiple seasonal waterways, horizontal directional drilling was utilized to minimize the impact of construction on the sensitive Novato Creek watershed located in Marin County.
Work also included new and retrofit tie-ins for recycled water end-users along the East and West sides of Highway 101 and the repurpose of the previously abandoned Norman Tank to store 0.5 million gallons of recycled water.
