I’m a biologist in the Environmental Group and I attribute my career path to my father, who was a sailboat captain and a naturalist. Growing up visiting him on Sanibel Island, Florida, allowed me to be in close contact with nature, which had a huge influence on my life.
I’ve been fortunate to work on some really interesting projects and I enjoy the constant challenges. One recent project was the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project for Southern California Edison. I started doing biological surveys, then went on to monitoring construction, and eventually became a lead monitor for the project. Right now, I’m evaluating the biological impacts for a large master-planned community in Antelope Valley in Southern California, among other smaller-scale projects.
I’m motivated by learning new things. I’m constantly amazed at plants and wildlife, because there is always so much more to learn. I love biology and I love my job!
