Utah Valley University/State of Utah
$48-Million Design-Build Facility
This design-build project involved a new 180,000 SF Digital Learning Center/Library to replace the existing outdated facility at the University. The $48-million project included a computer lab, computer reference area, media center, 60 study rooms, a map room, an electronic reserve, and wireless Internet throughout the building.
As a part of a team, Psomas provided civil engineering site design including utility relocations, new utility extensions and services, site grading, ADA-compliant access, and site hydrology/stormwater runoff management.
Psomas worked closely with the contractor and architect to address unforeseen issues as they arose. For example, the building footprint was once the site of an orchard which contained undocumented irrigation lines and drain tiles. Design modifications were made in a timely manner to reduce construction downtime and additional costs to the client.
