LEED® Certification for Top-Notch Research Facility
The L.S. Skaggs Pharmacy Research Building is a $69-million, 200,000 SF facility connected to the existing Pharmacy Building at the University. The project was designed to use about 30% less energy than a typical laboratory project, exceeding the State’s energy and LEED® requirements.
Psomas provided civil engineering support for the programming effort and design services as a part of a team. Responsibilities included analysis of existing utilities to service the new building and determine grading needs.
Due to the location of the building, several existing utilities were relocated through a tunnel under the building. The project achieved LEED certification, with Psomas responsible for the potential for LEED credits related to the site design.
