World-Class Cancer Facility

This $75-million, world-class cancer facility at UC San Diego has been designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute, which puts it in the top tier of cancer centers in the nation.

Psomas provided civil and site development engineering services for this 270,000 SF facility as a part of a team. It includes a three-story clinical and administrative building and a five-story research center. These two wings share a common base and are linked by a series of healing gardens.

Services included utility research, design surveys and preparation of a comprehensive existing conditions plan. Design for the realignment of roadways and utilities around the perimeter of the site was also completed, which was needed to assure that bus routes, utilities, fire and emergency access were never inadvertently severed.
