Award-Winning Park with Sustainable Design Elements
As part of a 700-acre, mixed-use development next to the San Diego River, a 60-acre community park was developed by the City of Santee. Santee Town Center Park features a gymnasium, gymnastic center, swimming pool complex, soccer and baseball fields, roller hockey, amphitheater, and picnic areas.
Psomas was the lead consultant throughout the planning, engineering, and construction phases. Services included project management, peer review, and the design of utilities, grading, drainage, and street improvements.
Sustainable design elements include natural water-quality swales and grass buffers to treat storm runoff, a photovoltaic system for the park’s restaurant, revegetation, and use of soft-bottom arch culverts and reclaimed water.
