APWA Project of the Year

Improving Auto and Pedestrian Safety

Traffic accidents at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Oak Street were three times the expected rate for this type of intersection. As part of the City’s plans to revitalize downtown, a roundabout was constructed to improve auto and pedestrian safety, traffic flow, and to create a landmark entry feature into Historic Old Roseville.

Psomas provided construction management services for the 5-stage construction including resident engineering, inspection, materials testing, and construction staking oversight.

The project included a Type 1 retaining wall, retaining curbs, improved sidewalks including bike paths between landscaping features, planting and irrigation, and utility relocations. The project also included revised traffic signals and improved pedestrian paths.
