City of Los Angeles
Historic Bridge Spanning the Los Angeles River
The Bureau of Engineering retained Psomas to provide the program/project management services including the Value Analysis Study for the widening of the North Spring Street (NSS) Bridge over the Los Angeles River.
Psomas was part of the initial team for the bridge widening and seismic upgrade project, responsible for the value analysis and constructability studies, and has been an integral part of the project from its inception. Once the project was re-scoped to a one-sided widening, Psomas took over as the Prime Consultant. We have continued to support the City to keep the project moving forward, coordinate the efforts of the entire project team, communicate with all stakeholders, and meet critical deadlines to preclude a lapse in the overall schedule and loss of funding.
This high profile $34-million project will mitigate traffic congestion, improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, and maintain the historic integrity of the bridge. The NSS Bridge is a historic structure built in 1928, rehabilitated in 1939, and seismically retrofitted in 1992.
