Design-Build Cogeneration Plant

A part of the $543-million John Wayne Airport Improvement Project includes this Central Utility Plant, which supplies the Thomas F. Riley Terminal with power and chilled water for the airport’s air conditioning system.

This $31-million non-traditional power plant uses cogeneration technology, an environmentally-responsible process that produces electricity by capturing waste heat and using it to power air conditioners.

As a part of a team for this design-build project, Psomas provided engineering services including grading, drainage (including water quality), and utilities as well as design surveys.
