Utah Transit Authority
44-mile Commuter Rail Line
Utah and Salt Lake Counties are experiencing rapid growth, more than twice that of the nation. By 2030, traffic volumes are forecast to more than double in the corridor between Provo and Salt Lake City. To ease severe traffic congestion, a 44.7-mile commuter rail line will link these two major population centers.
Psomas provided design surveying, right-of-way engineering, and construction staking for this $540-million project, which provides high-capacity transit service and enhances economic potential along the corridor. This new line includes single track with double track, nine new stations, over 60 structures, and 52 at-grade crossings. Right-of-way engineering was performed for 485 parcels.
