15.2-Mile Light Rail Corridor

Psomas provided surveying and mapping services on MTA’s Exposition Light Rail Project through the cities of Los Angeles, Culver City and Santa Monica. The 15.2-mile preferred alternative encompasses both existing and proposed right of way that takes into account a traditional light rail design, as well as a trench to accommodate a proposed rail transition and grade separation.

Psomas provided detailed topographic mapping of approximately 60 street intersections, an existing box tunnel structure beneath the I-10 Freeway, and numerous on and off-site hardscape features for the design of new rail crossings, utility relocation, and safer conduct of traffic. In addition, Psomas established a Second-Order control network based on available NGS HPGN control to facilitate additional design surveys completed by other firms and for the construction staking of the entire alignment.
