First LEED® Gold Building in California
The first building in California to be awarded a LEED® Gold certification, Elleven was also the first new housing to be built from the ground-up in downtown Los Angeles in several decades.
The 13-story tower adheres to strict green standards in both the architectural and civil engineering elements. Psomas was the lead for the civil engineering aspects to obtain LEED certification. For example, to treat stormwater runoff using natural methods, Psomas obtained the city’s permission to install specialized planters in the city right of way.
Psomas was responsible for preparation of the final and tentative map, condominium plans, topographic design, and ALTA survey. On-site civil engineering tasks included an erosion control plan, rough grading/excavation plan, grading and drainage plan, horizontal control plans, utility plans, SUSMP report, and hydrology.
