Riverside Transit Agency
Transit Station with Solar Power
To keep up with the growing demand for public transit, Riverside Transit Agency built the new $6.5-million bus terminal known as the Corona Transit Center. Psomas provided civil engineering, surveying and construction management and inspection services for the design and construction of the project.
The new facility serves as a hub for CommuterLink Express Bus Service. The project connects the eight-bay bus terminal with the Corona North Main Metrolink Station via a new 85-foot long pedestrian bridge over railroad tracks. The project included an elevator, walkway and pedestrian plaza.
Psomas also did the engineering design for installation of solar panels on the bus shelter and shade shelter canopies. The panels will provide 50 kilowatt hours of power a day.
This project was a finalist for a California Transit Foundation – Transit/Rail Project of the Year.
