New River Park along the Cañada del Oro Wash
Pima County Regional Flood Control District developed a river park on the east bank of the Cañada del Oro Wash. The park was renamed Christina-Taylor Green Memorial River Park in honor of the victims of the shooting tragedy in Tucson in which a gunman opened fire on U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
The Psomas team designed the improvements to the river park which included a paved multi-use pathway; landscaping and irrigation; post and cable barricade; and culvert and drainage improvements.
Engineering services included project management, concept drawings, and construction plans for multi-use underpass ramps, a pedestrian bridge, and two staging areas including parking, irrigation, landscaping, drainage, and restroom facilities. The project also included biological/cultural assessments including acquisition of 404 and 401 permits.
