Premier LEED® Gold, Design-Build State Office Complex
The $225 million Capitol Area East End State Office Complex is located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, at the eastern end of Capitol Park. The LEED Gold project involved the demolition of existing structures and construction of new office space, emphasizing the use of recycled materials. The project consists of 1.1 million SF across four new office buildings, with approximately 12,500 SF of commercial retail space on the ground level.
Psomas provided complete civil engineering services including the re-routing of storm sewers around the site, roadways, and utilities. The design of frontage improvements for the parking structure located under Capitol Avenue included a new divided roadway featuring a large landscaped median with water features over the garage. The 374,000 SF garage was a design-build project.
Rounding out the project is a 300-seat auditorium, mechanical plant, child care center, and 6,200 SF outdoor play area. In addition to design services, topographic mapping, construction and utility staking, and building control services were also provided.
