An important transit hub, the Brawley Transit Transfer Station serves as the City’s central bus transfer station for Imperial Valley Transit buses and transit riders traveling to and from destinations throughout the Imperial Valley. The ADA compliant station includes six bus bays, passenger plaza area with shade/weather shelters, benches, drinking fountains, solar lighting, CCTV surveillance system, drought tolerant landscaping, and bike racks.
The site design took into consideration vehicular circulation, pedestrian safety, security, station aesthetics, and rider comfort. An on-site storm drainage system collects and retains all storm flows in an underground retention and infiltration basin in compliance with the City’s storm water quality standards and requirements.
Psomas provided project management, site master planning, conceptual studies (including NEPA and CEQA documentation), civil engineering design, land surveying services, and construction period support. In addition, the Psomas team assisted with property acquisition in coordination with Caltrans right-of-way departments.
