Championship Golf Course with Adjacent Creek
Arroyo Trabuco is a championship golf course situated along both sides of Trabuco Creek, which provides the majority of flood protection in the area. A portion of the site was previously used as a sand and gravel mining operation.
Several challenges were addressed by Psomas during the planning and engineering of the course. The first was determining the level of flood control the creek offers to both the golf course and the surrounding properties. Second was the concern about possible adverse effects to water quality presented by the golf course. Third was the issue of designing and constructing the course to avoid two endangered bird species and one endangered plant species.
Psomas provided the civil engineering services on this project including addressing all of the water quality and storm drainage issues.
