Antelope Valley UHSD
Largest School Solar Project in California
Antelope Valley Union High School District has the largest school solar power project in California. This 9.6 MW photovoltaic design-build project will provide energy savings in excess of $40 million over the next 20 years.
Psomas provided surveys, civil engineering design and construction management services for this $52-million project.
The photovoltaic panels were placed on top of newly built carports, which not only act as supports for the solar panels, but also provide daytime shade and safety lights at night.
This project will promote the school district’s energy independence, substantially decrease its electrical costs, and over the next 20 years reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 250,000 tons. The solar project is engineered to produce clean, green energy for more than 80 percent of the school district’s electrical needs.
