As part of being selected by ENR magazine as the recipient of their inaugural Southern California Legacy Award, Tim Psomas was featured in this ENR article.
Tim, chairman emeritus, has been selected for ENR’s Legacy award due to his extensive efforts behind the greening of the nation’s infrastructure. As the first chairman of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure, Psomas helped pioneer the Envision rating system, which aims to do for civil works what the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system has done for buildings.
It isn’t the first time Psomas has been credited with having a long-range vision for growth. In 1976, when he succeeded his father as president of Los Angeles-based Psomas, he widened the company’s portfolio from a focus on surveying to include civil engineering in markets such as transportation, water/wastewater, energy and land development.
Psomas also works to promote legislation to improve the business climate for engineers.
