What sparked your interest in environmental consulting?
I took a class on ornithology that included a field trip to Santa Cruz Island, which inspired my love of birds. An internship at an environmental consulting firm during college launched my career.

What are your favorite projects?
My passion is contributing to the recovery of endangered species. Currently I’m working on the Big Tujunga Dam Habitat Conservation Plan for Los Angeles County. The plan will support permitting for the next 30 years of dam operations, while protecting eight Covered Species. We also completed a 10-year study on habitat trends and population dynamics of the Santa Ana sucker (a fish). I could talk about Big T for hours. Don’t get me started!

As a working mom, how do you manage your work/life balance?
I have two boys, Grant is five and Dylan is almost three. I’m lucky to have a flexible work schedule where I work in the office two days a week and then from home the rest of the week. This allows me to be more involved in my kids’ lives, including volunteering at their preschool, as well as keep up with my career.
