Right after graduating from the University of Arizona with my Bachelors Degree in civil engineering I joined Psomas. That was 12 years ago, time sure does fly by.
My team mainly works on major roadway projects throughout Arizona. We also work in Southern California, with our Orange County and San Diego teams. It’s a great example of our One Psomas philosophy, which promotes collaboration between teams in different offices or disciplines. I appreciate Psomas’ teamwork-based environment because I’m a social person and thrive on the constant exchange of ideas and interaction with others.
At Psomas I don’t feel like I’m just a number in a big corporation. The culture is open, friendly and personal. You get to meet a lot of people and you don’t feel removed from top management. I was able to obtain an MBA while working here thanks to advice and encouragement from the head of our Engineering Group, Matt Clark. This personal touch is conveyed throughout the entire company.
One of the best parts about my job is that my colleagues here in Tucson are a close-knit group. We’ve worked together over 10 years and get together socially outside of work. In fact, a bunch of us recently completed a mountain bike race together.
