A Safer, Smoother Ride

With rapidly growing communities and high daily traffic counts, Placer County had a pressing need to eliminate SR 65’s last signalized intersection between I-80 and Lincoln. The new $19 million SR 65/Sunset Boulevard Interchange provides a safer, smoother ride along one of the region’s busiest arteries, which links Roseville, Rocklin, and Lincoln.

Psomas provided full construction management services for the project, including identifying a potential driver visibility safety issue with the falsework design of the new six-lane overpass before it became a costly construction issue. Because of both the abundance of construction activity and existing safety issues as fast moving traffic approached the lighted intersection, this safety concern was even more important to mitigate before constructing this portion of the work. Psomas worked with the county, the design engineer, and Caltrans to identify and implement solutions, thereby creating a safer passageway for vehicular traffic through the project site during the construction process.
