LEED® Gold and Platinum for Design-Build Office Tower
The new California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) headquarters is the largest construction project in West Sacramento’s 20-year history and the most environmentally-friendly building in the region. The 15-story, 409,000 SF office tower utilizes the latest sustainable design techniques and is certified LEED Gold for New Construction and LEED Platinum for Existing Building Operations + Maintenance. The project uses 35% less water than a conventional building, which can be attributed to “green” site design considerations such as high efficiency irrigation and efficient native landscaping.
Located on West Sacramento’s River Walk along the Sacramento River, the project occupies 4.5 acres and includes a five-level parking structure in addition to the office tower. Several wellness amenities are incorporated into the project, such as a walkable site and enjoyable outdoor areas.
Psomas provided civil engineering services from conceptual design through final construction as part of the design-build team. Services included on-site utility and grading design; off-site street improvements, including road improvements and underground dry utility joint trench design; and design of traffic signals.
